Off Grid Solar Systems Perth & Western Australia

RSEG designs and installs off grid solar power systems for homes, farms, sheds, workshops and suitable commercial properties across Perth and wider Western Australia. These stand alone systems are designed for properties that are not connected to the electricity network or where extending grid power would be impractical or uneconomical.

An off grid solar system generally combines solar panels, battery storage, an inverter charger, system controls and often a backup generator. Unlike a standard grid connected solar system, it must supply the property’s full electrical demand throughout the year, including overnight periods, cloudy weather and seasonal changes in solar generation.

Accurate system design is essential. RSEG can assess daily electricity use, peak demand, appliance starting currents, operating hours, available roof or ground space and the level of battery autonomy required. High demand equipment such as pumps, air conditioning, electric cooking, hot water systems, machinery and workshop tools can significantly affect the system size.

Energy efficiency should also be considered before the system is designed. Efficient lighting, appliances, heating, cooling and pumps can reduce the number of solar panels and batteries required, lowering installation costs and improving system performance.

Backup generators are commonly included for extended periods of poor weather, unusually high demand or maintenance. The generator may be configured to charge the batteries or support loads when solar generation and stored energy are insufficient.

RSEG can assist with new stand alone systems, upgrades to existing off grid installations, additional battery capacity and electrical infrastructure for remote properties. Monitoring equipment can also provide information about solar generation, battery charge, electricity consumption and generator operation.

Off grid systems require realistic expectations about available power and responsible energy use. RSEG designs each installation around the property’s intended loads, location and operating requirements. Work is completed by appropriately licensed and accredited personnel, with the required electrical safety documentation provided for qualifying installation work.
